Every Picture Tells A Story.

My website is taking over my life and threatening to consume me.

websitescreenshotI’ve been making some changes over at abibansal.com. And as anyone who has had a personal website knows, one change leads to approximately 4000 more changes until before you know it you have a complete redesign and rebrand on your hands. I have changed my portfolio to reflect my editorial work and put in a wedding section for anyone who wants to view this stuff in a separate area.

I have spent about 5 days on this and I still have to put my about page up. Watch this space.

A Day on Location

Come along with me on a work day as I shoot on location with an amazing team! Apologies for the poor sound quality- it was very windy! You will notice I ask everyone if they are cold constantly, this is because I feel awful and worry about people getting ill.

My team for today-
Hair Jodie Austen @peachystylist
Makeup Sophie Moore @SophieMooreMUa
Styling by Lisa Fifer @stylestarlet
Model Victoria Lindsay Coutts @Victorialcoutts

Obviously, the week my website undergoes an enormous change (more on that later) and I am simultaneously working on 4 different projects with 3 different clients is an IDEAL time to stay up late and edit a bunch of images which didn’t make the cut. Isn’t it?

The top image of Donatella with the billowing skirt wasn’t initially what I had planned for this shoot- we actually grabbed the bit of fabric last minute off the back of the hair stylists door! I think it works though. I like the movement against the stillness and calm of the beach and far off horizon.

I am in the process of prepping for another location shoot happening this weekend and will attempt to vlog it, if I can! I will be back in this space soon with a mini fashion post (I hope!)

My name is Abi and I am a Pinterest addict. But much as I love pinning photos of enviable living and workspaces I often feel a bit ashamed about my own space. Lack of time, money and loft apartments im Bristol mean that I have been guilty of not making the best of what I have.

A year ago, when I moved in to this flat I had a bed and some kitchen stuff. That was it. A friend lent me a spare TV and an airbed and for the first 6 weeks, I lived in an empty room until I found a suitable secondhand sofa on gumtree that barely fitted through the doorways but that I was so determined to have I made it. The sofa cost me ¬£150 and still remains the most expensive thing in the room. The rug was passed on to me by a friend who was moving house and the two units ¬£5 bargains from the junk shop down the road, who even delivered them for me. The coffee table I found in my local emmaus charity shop for ¬£5 and my boyfriend helped me carry it back to the flat. My cheapest find was a great wicker basket I store magazines in which was left outside by a neighbour with “take me” written on a piece of paper- one of the best things about this Neighbourhood. Everything else, all those little bits that ¬†make a house a home were extremely cheap. Sourced from vintage stores ( like the wooden shoe lasts) Homesense/TK Maxx, ASDA, Matalan or Primark. Yes… you read that correctly. I am a big believer that a nice place to live need not cost the earth and I am proud of what I have achieved with so little.

My next project is a great workspace! If you have any ideas then let me know.

What do you do all day?| Working from home series.

Happy Friday!  It is the end of the week and also the conclusion of my 3 part series I have put together about working from home. This video answers the burning question what I do all day when I am not at meetings or shoots and gives a bit of insight into my planning process so I stay organised. And yes, I do use a paper planner!
